In a context where delays have become the norm even in very advanced productions, The Blood of Dawnwalker kicks off 2026 with a clear message: its release is still planned for this year. The Polish studio Rebel Wolves, formed by former developers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to the announced window, dispelling doubts about possible postponements.
The confirmation comes with a review of the game’s journey in 2025 and makes it clear that the team is maintaining its roadmap intact. Although there is always room for unexpected events, the tone of the message conveys confidence and a clear intention to fulfill what was promised, something that is not always common in projects of this magnitude.
A dark RPG with its own identity and The Witcher DNA
The Blood of Dawnwalker is conceived as the first chapter of a new action role-playing saga in an open world. Set in a 14th-century Europe marked by decay and conflict, the game proposes a dark fantasy with a very defined focus on decision-making and its consequences.
The player embodies Coen, a character divided between two natures: human during the day and vampire at night. This duality affects not only the gameplay but also the development of the story, whose main objective will be to save his family in a hostile world shaped by moral choices, alliances, and sacrifices.
Developed with Unreal Engine 5 and planned for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC, the project hints at a clear influence from The Witcher 3, both in structure and ambition, which is logical given the background of its creators. If it delivers on its promises, The Blood of Dawnwalker could become one of the biggest surprises in Western RPGs in 2026.
