One of the most talked-about announcements from The Game Awards hasn’t managed to stay afloat. The team at Wildlight has confirmed that Highguard will be shutting down permanently on March 12th, ending its service just a few months after its launch.
In the official statement, the studio acknowledges that despite surpassing 2 million players since its release and having an active community, they haven’t been able to build a sustainable foundation that guarantees long-term viability. The servers will remain active until the specified date.
Highguard says goodbye with one final major update
Before the final shutdown, the team will release a final update so players can enjoy new content during the game’s last days. The patch will include:
-
A new Warden
-
A new weapon
-
Account level progression
-
Skill trees
The full patch notes will be published soon, with the update scheduled to launch between today and tomorrow morning.
The studio has thanked the community for their support, which has been active since the project’s announcement to its final stage. March 12th will mark the end of Highguard, a title that arrived with high expectations after its presentation at Geoff Keighley’s event but hasn’t managed to establish itself in an increasingly competitive market.
