Rockstar’s silence continues to fuel the debate surrounding the price of GTA 6, which according to various rumors could be around $100. The figure has sparked a heated discussion among players, divided between those who consider it excessive and those who believe a project of such magnitude could justify it.
Among the voices supporting this possible price is Jay Klaitz, the actor who brought Lester Crest to life in Grand Theft Auto V. In a recent chat with The Escapist, Klaitz explained that he understands why a game like GTA 6 could reach such a high cost, highlighting the years of development and the level of production required for a title of this scale.
“It’s like buying several games at once”
The actor recalled that GTA 5 was a massive project in every sense, and that the next installment will follow the same path:
GTA 5 was packed with motion capture. I assume GTA 6 will be too, and these games take a long time to develop. They haven’t stopped working on it since the last one was released; they’ve been working on it for years, said Klaitz
He also pointed out that, beyond the base launch, the title will offer multiple versions, downloadable content, and online modes, which in his opinion makes its purchase a long-term investment:
It’s like buying several games at once. I understand those who prefer a lower price, but for me, $100 would be a fair price.
The actor even expressed his desire to reprise his role as Lester in the future, perhaps in some expansion or additional content after the launch.
As the anticipation to know the official price continues, GTA 6 is set to launch on May 26, 2026, with versions confirmed for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5. In recent hours, Rockstar has also made headlines due to a new wave of layoffs, adding more uncertainty to the development of one of the most anticipated titles of the next generation.
