Rarely has a game generated as much excitement as GTA 6. Since Rockstar Games confirmed its development, the community has been speculating about record-breaking sales and profits. Some even claim that the title could sell millions of copies, even if it costs $100, which, on paper, seems possible given the legacy of the series.
However, Take-Two Interactive’s official discourse is much more cautious. In a recent interview, its CEO, Strauss Zelnick, wanted to temper the enthusiasm and remind that no success is guaranteed, not even for a giant like Grand Theft Auto.
A more realistic view of what’s to come with GTA 6
Zelnick made it clear that the company is not overconfident:
Arrogance is the main enemy of success, and I firmly believe it. We never take it for granted that things will go well; we always work with the idea that we have to earn it.
The executive also emphasized that in the next decade, the market will experience significant changes and new games and even new formats will arrive, which will not always have the expected impact. Therefore, Take-Two’s strategy is to continue betting on creativity, innovation, and efficiency, rather than relying on established brands.
Although GTA 6 has been in development since at least 2018 and its planned release in May 2026 is expected to be one of the most important events in the history of the medium, the company prefers to wait and see how the public really responds before claiming victory.
For now, Rockstar is keeping the projected sales figures under wraps, but one thing is clear: the anticipation is maximum, and the bar for this new chapter in the series is higher than ever. Just yesterday, we learned that the release date of GTA 6 will not be changed from May next year, a new confirmation that reassures fans who are waiting.
