The remastering of System Shock 2 won’t make it to consoles on time. Nightdive Studios has confirmed that the release on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch will be delayed from the originally planned date due to technical issues that prevent meeting the marked calendar.
Despite this, the team maintains the PC release for June 26th, as previously announced. This new 25th-anniversary edition will be available on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Humble, while console versions are now expected in the first two weeks of July.
System Shock 2: Remaster arrives on PC on June 26th, but is delayed on consoles
In an official statement, the studio explained that they have encountered unexpected obstacles that prevent the game from launching on consoles on the same day as on PC. The specific reasons have not been detailed, but they insist that they are actively working to resolve them as soon as possible.
The goal now is for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster to arrive on Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation between the first and second week of July, although a specific date has not been set yet. Nightdive promises to update the community as soon as there is a final confirmation.
