Sword and Fairy 4 Remake continues to move forward towards its release on PC and consoles, but its path to Xbox is not being as smooth as expected. The studio Up Software has publicly confirmed that it joined the ID@Xbox program at the beginning of this year and that, to date, it has not yet received the necessary development kits to work on the Xbox version.
The message has caught the attention of the community, as it comes just after the release of the new official trailer “Unpredictable Divine Will”, which once again puts the focus on this ambitious remake developed in Unreal Engine 5. Despite the logistical setbacks, the project is moving forward and maintains its goal of also reaching Xbox consoles.
An Ambitious Remake Reborn with Unreal Engine 5
Sword and Fairy 4 Remake is a complete reimagining of the classic Chinese RPG, now converted into a single-player experience with turn-based combat, rebuilt from scratch with modern technology.
The story puts us in the shoes of Tianhe Yun and his group, embarking on a journey in search of the immortals, while a truth sealed for centuries begins to come to light. The new trailer shows a clear technical leap, with more detailed scenarios, renewed animations, and a much more cinematic staging.
Xbox Remains in the Plans, Despite Delays
Although the lack of ID@Xbox dev kits may affect the pace of development on console, the studio has reiterated that Xbox remains part of the release plan. For now, there are no specific dates or platforms detailed, but the message is clear: the game will arrive on consoles when the technical conditions allow it.
This case once again highlights the challenges faced by some international studios when making the leap to the Xbox ecosystem, even within official programs. Nevertheless, Sword and Fairy 4 Remake continues to shape up as one of the most interesting RPGs to follow ahead of its release on consoles.
