While Bethesda remains officially silent about the future of Starfield, a new report has shed some light on what’s being prepared for the coming months. Citing internal sources close to the development team, the outlet anticipates that the second expansion of the game will be released in spring 2026 (as we told you a couple of weeks ago), coinciding with a new phase of content for the space RPG.
This second expansion would arrive after Shattered Space, the second major content expansion that still has no exact release date. Although Starfield has received updates since its launch, many of them focused on technical improvements and adjustments to the gaming experience, the next major DLC would include new playable content, improvements beyond what we’ve seen, and even more novelties yet to be revealed.
Bethesda will announce Starfield news at Gamescom 2025
According to this same report, it’s very likely that Bethesda will take advantage of the Opening Night Live of Gamescom 2025, which will take place on August 19, to officially present these plans to the public. However, if it doesn’t happen at this event, there’s also a possibility that the announcement could come during The Game Awards in December or in a dedicated presentation later on.

For now, there’s no direct confirmation, but the leaks are starting to coincide in terms of timing and format, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for any official announcements in the coming weeks.
