The Polish developers at Code Horizon and Ultimate Games S.A. have just released the construction simulator Giant Machines 2017 on Xbox platforms, a title that was initially exclusive to PC back in 2016 and had not been available on consoles until now. The game allows players to operate seven of the world’s largest construction machines in 14 campaigns that take place in diverse locations such as Greenland, Wyoming, and Florida in the United States, culminating in the launch of a space shuttle into orbit.
Giant Machines 2017 showcases the machines in detail, something the developers are experts in, considering their previous work on Gold Mining Simulator. The featured vehicles include the Bagger drill and the Crawler platform, which will be used to move the space shuttle, among other things. The developers’ goal is for players to feel like they’re part of each task, creating an immersive atmosphere where every space is a direct representation of its real-world counterpart.
Machines that make a big impact
This is the second construction simulator to arrive on Xbox this year, following Roadcraft, which we had the chance to review in this editorial some time ago. That being said, this latest game may have a slightly higher quality than Giant Machines, considering the years they were released, although it doesn’t mean that both productions don’t cater to the same niche audience that has a blast operating machinery in less-than-ideal situations.
In the case of Giant Machines 2017, in addition to the aforementioned campaign, the game includes a time-attack mode that allows players to set records and complete objectives in the campaign as quickly as possible. Furthermore, fans of the engineering behind these mechanical giants can also enjoy an encyclopedia with a wealth of information about these industrial marvels of our era.
