The announcement of the release date of Hollow Knight: Silksong has not only sparked excitement among fans, but it’s also having a direct impact on other projects. The magnitude of the phenomenon has led several independent studios to reconsider their plans to avoid coinciding with the release of Team Cherry’s new title.
In recent days, three developers have officially announced delays in their releases: Panik Arcade, Talegames, and Aeternum Game Studios. All of them agree that competing directly with Silksong would be an unfair risk for their work and would reduce visibility for their proposals.
CloverPit, Faeland, and Aeterna Lucis change their schedule due to Silksong
-
CloverPit (Panik Arcade): The roguelike was initially set to release on September 3, 2025, but it will now arrive on September 26, 2025. The studio acknowledges that competing with Silksong would have “seriously compromised” its release.
-
Faeland (Talegames): This retro RPG, reminiscent of Zelda II, is delaying its version 1.0. The team has not yet announced a new release date, preferring to wait for the right moment to give the game the attention it deserves.
-
Aeterna Lucis (Aeternum Game Studios): In an official statement, the studio has confirmed that it is postponing its release directly to 2026. They explain that the decision is due to the impact of the Silksong announcement, as well as the need to finalize technical details for its release on all next-generation platforms.
In this way, Hollow Knight: Silksong not only sets the agenda for millions of players, but it also reconfigures the calendar of independent releases, which are seeking a more favorable space to shine on their own.
