One of the surprises on October 22 was the unexpected return of Scarface: The World is Yours to PC, briefly available on Steam and Epic Games Store under a version called “Scarface HD”. However, just a few hours later, the game was removed from both digital platforms without warning, causing confusion among players and the modding community.
The re-release, published by EC Digital, promised improved visuals thanks to a high-definition graphics package created with artificial intelligence, and first appeared on the Epic store before arriving on Steam. However, user investigations revealed a reality far different from what was announced.
The supposed Scarface remaster, a simple port with pre-installed mods
Shortly after its release, several modders discovered that the title was not an official remaster, but a copy of the original 2006 game with two pre-installed mods: SilentPatch and Fusion Fix, developed by the community years ago to improve stability and compatibility.
For now, Scarface HD remains out of both stores pending a resolution. EC Digital has assured that it will collaborate with its partners and affected parties to determine the project’s future. Meanwhile, players who managed to buy the game before its removal will retain access to their copy, although without confirmed official support.
The creator of these modifications clarified that he was never contacted by the publisher nor gave permission to include his work, although he noted that it was not strictly necessary, but rather a matter of courtesy. Additionally, he expressed doubts about whether NBC Universal, the owner of the Scarface license, had actually authorized the publication of this HD version.
