The rumor mill surrounding Call of Duty never stops. Just days after the official presentation of Black Ops 7, details are already circulating about the planned 2026 chapter, which would be none other than Modern Warfare 4. Although the information is not confirmed, sources point to a release in the usual months of October or November next year.
The data comes from a leak by a well-known name in the community, who previously accurately predicted several elements of Black Ops 7. According to their posts, the new game would eliminate some recent mechanics that didn’t quite convince the community and recover others that were more classic and defined the identity of the saga.
Rumors about Modern Warfare 4 point to significant changes
Among the modifications highlighted are:
-
End of Omnimovement, the movement system introduced this year that didn’t convince all players.
-
Return of slide cancelling, along with the classic Tac-Sprint, closer to what was seen in previous installments.
-
Ability to aim while sliding, which would give an extra layer of dynamism to confrontations.
-
Elimination of the melee weapon slot within the class configuration.
-
A recoil system more similar to Modern Warfare 2, seeking greater balance in shootouts.
-
The DMZ mode would return in 2026, with a new exclusive map designed for the occasion.
These changes, if confirmed, would position Modern Warfare 4 as an installment that seeks to satisfy both competitive players and those who are more nostalgic.
For now, Activision has not made any official announcement, and it’s likely that we won’t see anything about the project until the summer of 2026. We’ll have to wait to see if the rumors ultimately come true.
