The release of the latest financial report from Take-Two Interactive has left a crazy fact: the big releases from Rockstar Games are still selling at an incredible pace, even years after their release. Coinciding with the increased media attention around GTA 6, the company has updated the figures for its two most important titles.
Far from slowing down, both Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to grow in global sales, consolidating themselves as two of the most influential and long-lasting video games in the history of the industry.
GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to grow unstoppable
According to official data, GTA 5 has already surpassed 225 million copies sold worldwide, a figure that raises the total accumulated by the Grand Theft Auto saga to almost 465 million units. The title also maintains an achievement that is difficult to match: remaining among the best-selling games in the United States for over ten consecutive years, something practically unprecedented in the industry.
In the case of Red Dead Redemption 2, the figures are also impressive. Rockstar’s western has reached over 82 million copies sold, while the complete franchise exceeds 110 million. This milestone puts the game on the verge of a historic record, as it is very close to surpassing Wii Sports in the ranking of best-selling video games of all time.
If this overtaking is confirmed in the next updates, Red Dead Redemption 2 would become the third best-selling game in history, only behind Minecraft and GTA 5. An achievement that reinforces Rockstar’s absolute dominance and explains why every new move by the studio generates so much expectation globally.
