Revolution Software has officially announced Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror – Reforged, a brand-new, completely updated version of the legendary adventure classic, coming to Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC in early 2026.

British studio Revolution, led by Charles Cecil, continues its project to revamp its most recognized saga after the success of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars – Reforged, released in 2024. That installment set a new standard for adapting graphic adventures to modern systems, and now its sequel promises to raise the technical and artistic bar even higher.

Visual Revolution and New Features in Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror – Reforged

• Native 4K Resolution: all scenarios and characters have been hand-redrawn and upscaled for modern screens.

• Remastered Audio: voices and sound effects cleaned and improved with studio-quality sound.

• Instant Switching between Versions: the ability to switch between the 1997 original and the new Reforged version with just one button.

• Two Game Modes:

  • Classic Mode: traditional point-and-click experience without any help.

  • Story Mode: includes subtle hints to avoid getting stuck in puzzles.

• Cross-Platform Compatibility: confirmed release for Xbox Series, Xbox One, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux.

• Redesigned Scenarios: locations in Europe, the Caribbean, and Central America recreated with new lighting effects and fluid animations.
