Resident Evil Revelations 3 is one of those projects that was never announced, but many fans are still holding out hope. The Revelations subseries left a lasting impression on players, particularly for its return to a more classic horror approach during a time when the main series had shifted towards action.

Despite its success, Capcom never took the leap towards a third installment. And what’s interesting is that, over a decade later, interest still remains.

Why Resident Evil Revelations 3 never came to be

The Revelations series achieved something significant: striking a balance between action and horror, while also bringing back beloved characters like Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Barry Burton. However, the context of the franchise has changed completely. Since Resident Evil 7, the main series has refocused on horror, leaving no room for a parallel line like Revelations, which was created to fill that gap.

• This is compounded by another key factor: Capcom has focused all its efforts on mainline games and remakes, leaving more ambitious secondary projects by the wayside. In recent years, the only spin-offs have been multiplayer proposals or one-off experiments. Yet, interest has not waned. Rumors about a potential return or even remasters occasionally surface, but nothing has been confirmed.

In our opinion, Resident Evil Revelations 3 would fit perfectly into the current landscape, but the series’ strategy has taken a different path. And until that changes, it will remain one of those games that fans imagine, but never quite becomes a reality.
