As Capcom has been showing fragments of the game, several details have come to light that allow us to reconstruct the past of this character and their direct relationship with the events that mark the beginning of the adventure. Not everything is confirmed at 100%, but the official material offers enough clues to outline their role within the set.
Victor Gideon and his relationship with the Elpis virus in Resident Evil Requiem
Victor Gideon is a researcher and virologist with a past directly linked to Umbrella Corporation. His collaboration with the company would have lasted until 2003, the year the company definitively collapsed. After that point, Gideon acquired the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, a hospital complex that he transformed into his operations center and personal laboratory.
In those facilities, he began working with the Elpis virus, a pathogen related to projects of the United States government and the known Sterilization Strategy that led to the destruction of Raccoon City in October 1998. His research did not go unnoticed and ended up catching the attention of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft, who managed to discover part of his experiments. Gideon’s response was direct: eliminate any threat that could bring the truth to light.
In 2018, he located Alyssa at the Weenwood Hotel and managed to kill her, although the confrontation left significant consequences. During the incident, he suffered severe burns after a fire caused by Grace Ashcroft, the journalist’s daughter, who managed to survive. Years later, in 2026, Gideon discovered that the decisive element to unlock the full potential of the Elpis virus was precisely in Grace’s blood, which triggered her kidnapping at the beginning of the game and marked the start of the main conflict of Resident Evil Requiem.
It’s worth remembering that all this information is based exclusively on the official material published so far by Capcom. The trailer montage itself could hide twists or reinterpretations that will only be clarified when the game goes on sale on February 27, 2026.
