Capcom and NVIDIA have released a new technical trailer focusing on the ray tracing of their upcoming major release, and beyond the visuals, the video has sparked an interesting question among players: is this installment betting on a more open urban setting than usual?
The preview, mainly focused on the PC version, also serves to observe some gameplay fragments more calmly that had not caught as much attention in previous presentations.
Resident Evil Requiem aims for a more open and explorable city
In the new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem we can see Grace Ashcroft walking through wide streets, with dynamic lighting, complex reflections, and an urban design that conveys a sense of space and continuity. It doesn’t seem to be just simple corridors or closed areas, but an environment that invites movement with some freedom.
This has revived rumors that have been circulating for months about a less constrained structure, with connected urban areas and more room to explore. It wouldn’t be the first time the series has experimented with this approach: Resident Evil Village already introduced more open areas, and in recent Requiem trailers, driving sequences have also been seen, something uncommon in the series.
The same trailer also confirms already known details, such as the return of Leon Kennedy and the shared protagonist role with Grace, reinforcing the idea of an ambitious release both technically and in terms of design.
Capcom has not officially confirmed whether it will be an open-world game as such, but everything points to a clear evolution compared to previous installments. Resident Evil Requiem will arrive on Xbox Series on February 27th, and until then, each new glimpse continues to fuel expectations.
