There are still weeks to go before its release, but Resident Evil Requiem is already generating numbers that invite optimism. Capcom has confirmed that the new chapter in the saga has accumulated over four million wishlist inclusions across PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and Steam, a clear sign of the enormous interest it’s sparking even before its launch.
The data has been shared to coincide with the start of the new year and puts the game in a very similar position to that of other recent major releases in the franchise. To put it into context, Resident Evil Village reached four million copies distributed at its launch in 2021, while Resident Evil 4 Remake achieved three million in just two days in 2023.
A Constant Growth Rate
Although wishlist numbers don’t directly translate to sales, the franchise’s history suggests a very solid debut. The absolute record remains with Resident Evil 6, with 4.5 million copies at its launch, a figure that Resident Evil Requiem could match or even surpass if current interest turns into actual purchases.
Moreover, growth has been progressive and sustained. The game reached its first million wishlists in June 2025, practically at the moment of its announcement. By October, it had surpassed two million, in November it reached three million, and now it starts January 2026 by surpassing the four million mark.
Maximum Expectation Before Launch
The story starring Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy continues to gain traction, and everything points to the interest reigniting with the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase, scheduled before the official launch set for February 27, 2026.
If Capcom maintains this pace and meets expectations, Resident Evil Requiem could become one of the year’s major commercial successes, also on Xbox.
