As the launch of Resident Evil Requiem approaches, Capcom continues to reveal details that help us better understand what kind of experience we’ll have. After learning about technical aspects of some versions, the focus is now on one of the pillars of the series: zombie behavior.
The Japanese company has confirmed that in this installment, the infected will not follow a single pattern. The goal is to make each encounter less predictable, forcing the player to stay alert even in situations that, in other games, could be resolved automatically.
How zombies change in Resident Evil Requiem
According to Capcom, in Resident Evil Requiem there will be different levels of infection, resulting in enemies with very different reactions and behaviors. Not all will advance in a slow and direct manner: some will retain certain remnants of humanity, which can make them doubt, react unexpectedly, or change their attitude in the middle of combat.
This approach aims to make encounters less routine and more tense. The player will not always know if a zombie will attack, retreat, or surprise with an unusual movement, something that completely alters the rhythm of action and survival scenes.
The system becomes even more important when controlling Leon S. Kennedy. Although the character has a high level of offense and advanced defensive options, Capcom insists that complacency is not advisable. These new infected can put even the most prepared characters in a tight spot, forcing the player to read each situation before acting.
