It’s been less than a day since its release, and Resident Evil Requiem is already being pushed to the limit by the community. As usual with each installment of the series, speedrunners haven’t wasted any time in going for the first records… and the times are starting to get impressive.
One of the fastest players so far has managed to reach the final credits in 2 hours and 39 minutes, a record set on the game’s lowest difficulty level. A remarkable time considering the size of this new installment and the number of confrontations and exploration sections it includes.
Resident Evil Requiem falls in 2:39 as records continue to drop
The achievement has been shared on social media along with the final screenshot that certifies the time. And although it seems like a tough record to beat right now, the history of the series shows that these records tend to fall quickly as more optimized routes, shortcuts, and aggressive strategies are discovered.
- To put it into perspective, in our first playthrough on Generación Xbox, it took us around 9 hours, playing naturally, exploring each area, and without rushing. That means speedrunners have reduced the experience to less than a third of the usual time.
Everything points to new records being set in a matter of days. The community always finds ways to shave off seconds… and in a newly released game, there’s still plenty of room for improvement.
