Rumors about a remastered version of Red Dead Redemption 2 are gaining momentum again, and this time, all signs point to an official announcement being just around the corner. According to several reliable leakers, Rockstar Games is reportedly preparing a new version of the game for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5, with a targeted release date set for fall 2025.
The information comes from various industry insiders who have a track record of accurate leaks, and they all agree that this next-gen edition not only exists but has already been mentioned in Microsoft’s internal court documents. These papers listed a “next-generation version” of Rockstar’s title, which has reignited speculation.
All signs point to the return of Rockstar’s western masterpiece
The hints don’t stop there. In recent hours, the game’s Steam page has been modified without any apparent reason, a move that echoes what happened with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion just before its remastered version was announced. Additionally, October 26 marks the seventh anniversary of the game’s original release, a perfect opportunity to commemorate the game’s legacy with an updated edition.
- Furthermore, since 2021, Rockstar has released or re-released at least one game or port every year, a trend that reinforces the idea that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be their bet for this fall. All of this, combined with the studio’s historical pattern, suggests that the announcement could happen at any moment in the coming weeks.
Although there’s no official confirmation yet, the rumors agree that this version would include graphical improvements, 4K resolution, HDR, and full support for 60 FPS, as well as optimizations specifically for Xbox Series X and Series S.
All that’s left to do is wait for Rockstar to break the silence. But one thing seems clear: Arthur Morgan’s ride is far from over.
