CD Projekt RED has been working on several projects over the past few years, including The Witcher 4, the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, and Project Orion. However, another project has caught the attention of fans: Project Hadar, a new RPG IP that was announced in 2022. Although some sporadic updates have been released about this project, very little is still known about it.
Recently, some job listings for Project Hadar have been discovered, suggesting that the studio is ramping up production.
CD Projekt Red won’t be leaving ARPGs behind
One of these listings, for a Senior Gameplay Designer, indicates that the project “is still in its early days”. However, the qualifications for the position require “at least over 5 years of professional experience in a similar role, preferably in RPG/Action titles with melee combat“. This has led to speculation about the type of game Project Hadar could be, and whether it might follow the trend of The Witcher series.
The studio has mentioned that they want to continue making games within the same genre, which could indicate that Project Hadar will be an RPG with combat similar to The Witcher. It’s also possible that some of the work done on combat for The Witcher 4 could be transferred to Project Hadar.
Meanwhile, CD Projekt RED’s other titles are still in development. The Witcher 4 has no release date, but received an impressive tech demo at the latest State of Unreal. Project Orion, also known as Cyberpunk 2, has recently entered pre-production, although it may still be five or six years away from release.
