In BitSummit 13, taking place from July 18th to 20th at the Miyako Messe in Kyoto, Japan, you’ll have the chance to play PLATONICA SPACE (if you’re up for a trip to Japan…), a psychological space exploration adventure game developed by Kazuhide Oka and published by KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO. Although the PC release date on Steam has yet to be announced, a description is already available on the game’s Steam page.
The story of PLATONICA SPACE begins as you wake up in an unfamiliar room with no memory and no visible exit. As you cross a door, you find yourself in another strange room, and soon discover that this mysterious space is composed of an endless collection of interconnected rooms. In this place, you’ll also meet other girls who, like you, have no idea who they are or how they got there. However, as you explore, you realize that these rooms are made up of your memories and those of the other girls.
Sleep is one of the game’s most attractive mechanics
To restore your memories, you’ll need to place objects in specific locations, which will allow you to evoke memories associated with a particular combination of objects and places. For example, placing a knife in a kitchen might remind you of cooking moments, but the same knife in another room could evoke a completely different memory.
Not all the memories you find will be yours, as some may belong to other people trapped in this strange space, so you’ll need to investigate and discover who they belong to in order for the truth to finally come to light.
Every time you fall asleep and wake up, the layout of the rooms, the way they connect, and the elements you find in them will change. This means that no two attempts will be the same, and you’ll need to explore, find objects, and discover memories as many times as you want.
