Microsoft has once again put the spotlight on OD, the mysterious project of Hideo Kojima developed in collaboration with Kojima Productions. In his latest statements, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, highlighted the importance of supporting this type of original idea within the industry and confirmed that the game’s development is in full swing.
The game is a bet by Xbox Game Studios and Kojima, a game that seems to combine horror and cinema, all combined to offer us a unique experience from the Japanese creative.
OD will be exclusive to Xbox and PC, with Game Pass confirmed
Although details are still scarce, what is clear is that Microsoft is financing and publishing OD, ensuring that Kojima Productions’ new title will launch on Xbox and PC, with availability from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
“Original intellectual property is essential to our industry, so I’m thrilled that OD’s development is in full swing thanks to the talented team at Kojima Productions and their creative collaborators.
We have a common goal: to make Kojima-san’s vision available to all players, everywhere. We’re eager for players to experience OD as soon as it’s ready,” Spencer expressed.
- There is still doubt about whether the game will debut on current consoles or if it will be one of the flagship titles of the next generation of Xbox, as a release window has not yet been confirmed.
OD presents itself as an innovative horror game, seeking to take immersion concepts further than Kojima already explored in projects like P.T. or Death Stranding. For Xbox, it represents one of the biggest bets in the field of author exclusives, something that reinforces its strategy of differentiating the Game Pass catalog with unique experiences.
