These sagas are joined by other classics like Crimson Skies and MechAssault, titles that have been without new installments for years. Now, Phil Spencer has revived the illusion by ensuring that all these licenses are part of the list of franchises that Xbox wants to revive in the future, although there are no confirmed plans as of yet, as we’ve learned through Windows Central.

Spencer’s comment comes in the context of expanding the Xbox Game Studios catalog, and following the recent arrival of Fantasian on Xbox consoles, which has fueled expectations about a possible return of Mistwalker. Meanwhile, Lost Odyssey has solidified its position as a cult JRPG among the community, while Blue Dragon was once the big bet to open Xbox to the Japanese public.

The Challenge of Reviving Classic Franchises

Although Spencer acknowledges the company’s interest, not all cases are straightforward. MechAssault, for example, is tied to the BattleTech universe, whose rights are fragmented among several companies, making any internal development difficult. Crimson Skies, on the other hand, doesn’t have these problems and could have more options for a return, something fans have been demanding for two decades.

For now, there are no official confirmations or projects in development, but the mere fact that Phil Spencer has put these names on the table gives hope to the community. We’ll have to wait and see if any of these titles manage to make the leap from the wish list to Xbox’s release calendar.
