The interest in recovering classic games on Xbox is once again heating up within the community. In just a few days, a fan-created initiative to collect titles that players want to see again on current consoles has surpassed 50,000 registered votes, multiplying its initial activity by ten.
The page, known as Xbox Game Preservation, was born with the idea of gathering community petitions for original Xbox and Xbox 360 games that are not yet compatible with current hardware. Although it has no official relationship with Microsoft, the project has gained significant visibility in recent days, and more and more players are participating in the vote.
The most requested classics to return to the Xbox catalog
When this page was first mentioned, the counter barely reached 5,000 votes. Everything changed after it was announced at GDC that Xbox plans to revive its retrocompatibility program in 2026, which sparked the community’s interest.
Since then, thousands of users have participated, and the ranking of most requested games has changed completely. These are the titles that currently lead the list:
-
Jet Set Radio Future
-
Sonic Heroes
-
Sonic The Hedgehog
-
The Simpsons: Hit & Run
-
Sonic Riders
-
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
-
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
-
Crash Twinsanity
-
Transformers: War for Cybertron
-
Shadow The Hedgehog
One of the most striking aspects is the presence of several Sonic titles, which have quickly climbed the rankings in recent votes. Other classics that were initially among the favorites have fallen significantly in the classification.
It’s worth remembering that this website has no official character and does not guarantee that Microsoft will take the results into account when deciding which titles could return through retrocompatibility. Nevertheless, the project’s growth makes it clear that there is a strong interest in recovering part of Xbox’s historical catalog and making it accessible on modern hardware.
