The new work of Hideo Kojima continues to generate excitement, and now comes an important confirmation from Microsoft. In a recent interview with Famitsu, Phil Spencer has revealed that Xbox is actively involved in the development of OD Knock, the horror project of the creator of Metal Gear and Death Stranding.
During his speech, he explained that the Xbox Game Studios team is involved “in both gameplay and technology”, in a collaboration that seems to be much deeper than expected. According to Spencer, Kojima Productions is working alongside Xbox engineers to shape an experience that is “truly terrifying”, driven by the capabilities of the Unreal Engine 5 and Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure.

Spencer himself highlighted that he was “impressed by the quality of the footage shown during Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary”, referring to the game’s latest trailer. In his words, OD Knock represents Kojima’s darkest and most experimental vision to date, and Xbox is “providing all its support to make it a reality”.
Spencer also confirmed that development has been delayed due to the 2023 actors’ and writers’ strike, which affected the production schedule. Nevertheless, he assured that the studio is “working hard to bring OD Knock to light as soon as possible and in its most complete and terrifying form”.
Although it still doesn’t have an official release date, OD Knock is set to become one of the most ambitious experiences from Xbox Game Studios and a turning point in the psychological horror genre.
