New features of the July update on Xbox for PC
Stream your own games from the cloud on PC
- One of the major new features is the ability to stream over 250 games you already own from your Xbox account, without needing to download them. This function, available to Game Pass Ultimate members, is now enabled in the Xbox app for PC in the 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming is already available.
- Among the compatible games, we find recent titles like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Mafia: Definitive Edition, or The Callisto Protocol, but the list will continue to grow. To access, simply go to the Cloud Games section, locate the “Stream your own games” list, and select any title you own and is compatible. Everything works directly from the cloud, without taking up disk space or waiting for downloads.
Game history across devices and improved cloud library
- The Xbox app for PC has also improved how you access your game history. From now on, you can see the games you’ve played recently on console, PC, or cloud, and continue right where you left off, regardless of the device.
- Additionally, Xbox Insider members with Game Pass Ultimate can now view and launch cloud games directly from their personal library, including those exclusive to consoles. This means that games from the original Xbox to Xbox Series can be available for streaming within the same app on PC, offering a more unified and simple experience.
Microsoft Rewards also arrives on the Xbox app for PC
- Another notable improvement is the integration of weekly rewards directly into the Xbox app for PC. If you have a Microsoft account and are over 18 years old, you can start earning Microsoft Rewards points for playing on your computer. The interface shows your progress towards your weekly goals and allows you to claim accumulated points from within the app itself.
- This feature is already active in some selected markets and is expected to expand progressively to more regions. To start, simply access the rewards channel within the app, play, and follow your progress.
These new features reflect Xbox’s commitment to making its ecosystem more connected, versatile, and rewarding, especially for those who use their account on PC as well. And as always, with more reasons to play your way, whenever and wherever you want. Have you tried these new features yet?
