As the development of the third and final part of the Final Fantasy VII remake enters its final phase, information is emerging that could mark a before and after for Xbox players. According to new leaks, Square Enix may not have signed a temporary exclusivity agreement with Sony for this final chapter, which would open the door to a simultaneous release on all platforms.
If confirmed, it would be a significant change compared to what happened with Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, whose releases were tied to PlayStation for a while. This time, the scenario would be very different. Something we had already discussed with you a few weeks ago, something Square itself said.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 could arrive on Xbox without delays
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 would not be subject to any agreement that limits its release to PlayStation 5 for a certain period. This would allow Square Enix to publish the game simultaneously on PS5, Xbox Series, PC, and even Nintendo Switch 2, as long as the state of each version allows it.
- The only possible obstacle would not be contractual, but technical. Square Enix could decide to delay a specific version if it considers that it does not reach the desired level of optimization or if it seeks greater performance parity between platforms, something especially delicate in the case of Switch 2.
The mere fact that there is no closed exclusivity already means important news for Xbox. If this scenario comes true, Xbox players could experience the end of Cloud and company’s story without waits or staggered releases for the first time.
We’ll have to keep an eye on Square Enix’s next moves, but everything points to the fact that the multi-platform strategy could be one of the main protagonists of the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3.
