Since it was announced, it has been on my must-haves list for the service.

I’ve got it crystal clear: Hollow Knight: Silksong is, for me, the most anticipated game of all those coming to Xbox Game Pass. No other game can take its place. Since Team Cherry officially presented it, it’s been the title I’ve been looking for in every event, in every showcase, with the hope that they’ll finally tell us: “It’s coming out on this day, get ready”. And although the wait is taking a while, the expectations remain intact.
The fact that it’s coming to Xbox Game Pass on Day One is already a luxury. Being able to enjoy a launch like this from the very first minute without any extra cost is one of those advantages that makes the service shine. But it’s not just that: we’re talking about the sequel to one of the most beloved and acclaimed metroidvanias of the last decade, a game that marked a before and after in the genre and still continues to attract players today.
A new, bigger, and more challenging world
In Silksong, we’ll switch from controlling the Knight to taking on the role of Hornet, a much more agile and deadly character. This change isn’t just aesthetic: it will completely affect the way we move, explore, and fight. The world that awaits us will be bigger, with new regions, visually stunning environments, and a soundtrack that, if it follows the line of the first game, will be simply magical.
Additionally, Team Cherry has already promised hundreds of new enemies, unique bosses, and new mechanics. The combat pace will be faster, and the verticality of the scenarios will become even more important. In other words, they won’t just be repeating the formula: the idea is to expand and perfect it to limits we can’t even imagine yet.
Getting closer… and with Game Pass as the perfect showcase
Although we don’t have an exact date yet (it’s supposed to come out this year), my feeling is that it’s closer than ever. The signs are clear: mentions in recent events, its presence on wish lists, and the fact that Microsoft continues to highlight it as a priority launch for Game Pass…
The presence of Hollow Knight: Silksong at Gamescom 2025, on August 19th and 20th, has already been confirmed, and that raises expectations. Everything points to the fact that this will be where we finally receive the news we’ve been waiting for years. And I have no doubts: it will be one of the most talked-about announcements at the entire fair.
Until then, I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing since it was announced: waiting patiently, replaying the original Hollow Knight to refresh my sensations, and dreaming of the moment when I can download Silksong on my Xbox on the same day it comes out. Because, yes, for me, it’s the most anticipated game on all of Game Pass.
