Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 will change their physical edition on Xbox: they will now include disc

New news for Xbox players who prefer to collect their games in physical format. Both Ninja Gaiden 4 Deluxe Edition and The Outer Worlds 2 Premium Edition will be distributed in physical disc format, instead of only including a download code inside, as initially planned.

This change affects the physical versions for Xbox Series, after many players criticized the decision to sell only boxes with codes. Although for now it has not been confirmed if all content will be included on the disc, the format change is already official and more information is expected in the coming days.

Xbox physical editions will no longer be just “code in a box”

This move represents a small shift in the strategy that some publishers were following, offering incomplete or disc-less physical editions. Both Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 were two of the most notable examples, and now their Deluxe and Premium versions will include physical support, at least on Xbox.

As for PS5, it has also been announced that the standard edition of The Outer Worlds 2 will reduce its recommended retail price. As we confirmed yesterday, those who have made an advance reservation may receive a partial refund automatically, depending on the store’s policy.

For now, Xbox players can celebrate that two of the most anticipated releases of 2025 will have a traditional physical edition. It remains to be seen if the content will be complete on the disc or if an additional download will be necessary.
