Microsoft is starting to shape the future of its consoles, and it’s doing so with the help of one of its top hardware executives. Jason Ronald, Vice President of Xbox Gaming Devices & Ecosystem, has shared the vision guiding the development of the next generation, marked by innovation in silicon and close collaboration with AMD.

In his words, the Xbox team is seeking to break the limits of the current generation of devices, betting on a unified platform that allows players to enjoy their titles on consoles, PC, cloud, and portable devices without restrictions. A vision that reinforces Microsoft’s strategy of offering connected experiences beyond a single device or digital store.
Xbox Next Gen, dedicated hardware, and artificial intelligence
Ronald has confirmed that the next-generation Xbox will rely on advanced rendering technologies, such as neural rendering, which will allow for a visual leap in game fidelity and player immersion. To achieve this, the company is working with AMD on a specific chip designed to power this advancement.

But that’s not all. The next generation of consoles will also feature silicon dedicated to artificial intelligence, opening up new opportunities for both players and developers. “We’re investing in specific hardware for AI capabilities that will transform the way games are experienced, providing creators with tools that will allow them to design experiences that were previously impossible,” Ronald explained.
This approach confirms that Microsoft wants the new generation of Xbox to be not just a graphical leap, but a platform that integrates AI natively to redefine how games are played, developed, and lived.
