Terminator Survivors is back in the spotlight after the announcement of its delay to late 2025. Nacon Studio Milan has published an extensive message on Steam to explain how the development of this ambitious open-world game set in the cinematic universe of Terminator is progressing.
The Italian studio makes it clear that the project has not been halted at any point and that the team is still actively working to refine the fundamental pillars of the experience. Additionally, they promise more consistent communication with the community from now on.
Terminator Survivors bets on open-world, new timeline, and a more menacing T-800
According to Nacon Milan, the development is based on three main pillars. The first is the creation of a hand-designed and dynamic open world, with events and situations that evolve naturally as we explore the post-apocalyptic environment.
The second pillar is the construction of an original story set in a new timeline, which intersects coherently with the events of the first two films in the saga. The intention is to expand the universe without contradicting the classic legacy.
The third axis is the treatment of the T-800, which will receive a design intended to convey authentic menace. The studio wants the iconic Skynet model to be more than just an enemy: a constant presence that conditions our way of playing.
Emphasis is also placed on player freedom, both in terms of gameplay and the decisions that will shape the development of events. Terminator Survivors continues in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, although no release window has been confirmed yet.
