Microsoft has confirmed a series of significant internal moves in Xbox leadership, a reorganization that directly affects the financial and operational management of its gaming division. These changes come at a crucial time for the company, with multiple studios under its umbrella and an increasingly broad strategy in services, consoles, and PC.
The information, reported by Tom Warren (The Verge), makes it clear that Microsoft is continuing to refine its internal structure to more clearly separate financial and day-to-day management responsibilities, especially after the integration of large groups like ZeniMax and Activision Blizzard.
Changes in Xbox and ZeniMax leadership
The first move places Tim Stuart, previously Xbox CFO, as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ZeniMax. This change reinforces the operational leadership of the group that includes studios like Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, Arkane, and MachineGames, at a time when ZeniMax continues to be one of the creative pillars of Xbox.
On the other hand, Xavier Pokorzynski takes on the role of CFO of Microsoft Gaming, becoming the top financial executive for the entire gaming division. His new position encompasses economic oversight of Xbox, ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard, and other areas related to the gaming business within Microsoft.
This adjustment aims to create a more specialized and scalable structure, designed to support the long-term growth of Xbox. With major releases on the horizon, evolving services, and an increasingly strong presence in PC and cloud, Microsoft seeks to ensure more solid and well-defined management at all levels of its gaming division.
