The free update for Red Dead Redemption on Xbox is causing more headaches than expected. Throughout the weekend, many players have tried to claim it without success, despite having the original digital version of Xbox 360 in their account. And although it was speculated to be a temporary glitch, we now have an official confirmation of the problem’s origin… and its solution.
According to Microsoft’s support team, a direct report from Rockstar has acknowledged the error that prevents certain users from getting the free update. The good news is that the company already has a patch ready and it will be deployed today, so those affected should be able to claim their copy soon.
Rockstar will send a patch within the next 24 hours
Microsoft’s support message details the following:
We have received a report directly from Rockstar about the issue that prevents some customers from getting the free Enhanced Edition update. An update will be deployed today to fix it. We recommend checking for it within the next 24 hours.
With this fix, all players with the digital edition of Xbox 360 (or registered for backwards compatibility) should see the Enhanced Edition appear without paying anything, as originally planned since the update announcement.
If you’re one of the affected players, it’s worth checking the store and your library throughout the day. From Generación Xbox, we’ll keep an eye on it and inform you as soon as the solution is fully active for everyone.
