Unexpected movement in the Xbox Store. Konami has removed the digital sale of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD, the Xbox 360 backwards compatible version, just before the release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 scheduled for this year on Xbox Series.
The removal has been done without any prior official announcement from the company, which has surprised those who had not yet acquired this installment in digital format. From now on, it is no longer possible to buy it in the Microsoft store.
Konami removes Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD from the Xbox Store
The information has been published on TrueAchievements, where it is indicated that the title has been removed without public explanation. Everything points to the decision being directly related to the arrival of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which will include an updated version of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker along with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and other additional content such as Metal Gear: Ghost Babel.
This means that those who did not purchase the digital version of Xbox 360 before its removal will only be able to play it through a physical copy of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. For some players interested in completing the original achievements of that edition, the news is a small disappointment.
On the other hand, the release of the new collection will bring with it an optimized version for Xbox Series, which will allow players to rediscover the title with improvements and, in the case of MGS4, play it outside the PlayStation 3 ecosystem for the first time after years of exclusivity.
Now we have to wait for Konami to detail whether this removal is definitive or if it’s just a step to centralize the saga in its new collection.
