The season 3.5 of NetEase’s Marvel Rivals is now live, and with it comes Blade as the new Duelist to the game. With a vast array of heroes in the Marvel franchise, the hero shooter could be exploring collaborations with other titles in the future.
Guangyun Chen, the game’s director, mentioned to Insider Gaming that there are plans to collaborate with other Marvel titles, although he didn’t specify which ones might be involved. This opens up the possibility of seeing elements from games like Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Arkane Lyon’s Blade, EA Motive’s Iron Man, or even Insomniac’s Marvel titles within Marvel Rivals.
Skins or something more?
The way these collaborations could work is still to be seen. Given that all heroes and villains come from the same IP, it could be cosmetic elements that reference other Marvel games.
It’s also possible that Marvel Rivals won’t collaborate with Marvel games developed by Sony or Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and instead opt to work with other NetEase titles, like the recently released Marvel Mystic Mayhem.
With over 40 million registered players as of last February, Marvel Rivals is available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and its player base continues to grow.
