Those of us who grew up in arcades or glued to the controller of various 8 and 16-bit consoles are, for the most part, sporting a smile on our faces after the announcement of Marvel MaXimum Collection, a compilation of 13 classic Marvel titles, including the X-Men beat ’em up from Konami that never had an official port.
The game will arrive on Xbox Series this year, although the exact date has not been released yet, and will include titles like Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge, Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage, Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety, and Silver Surfer, as seen in the trailer. There are still seven games that have not been revealed.
Fall in love with classic Marvel
Beyond being able to enjoy these classic titles on modern hardware, each production features several improvements, such as the ability to save the game at any time, rewind, and access a menu to add special advantages.
In the case of X-Men: The Arcade Game, the game will feature rollback netcode for online play with others. As if all this were not enough, the collection will include a museum where you can view design documents for each title, vintage ads, and much more. To get you ready, I recommend checking out Marvel Cosmic Invasion, available on Game Pass, which my colleague Frank reviewed, and here are his thoughts.
