The criminal history of the new Mafia family is ready to land on Xbox. The studio responsible for Mafia: The Old Country has officially confirmed that the game has gone Gold, meaning its development has concluded and it’s ready for physical and digital distribution. The release date remains as previously planned: August 8, 2025.

This new chapter serves as a prequel to the original title and promises a more focused experience on the origins of organized crime, with a setting that transports us to rural and urban Italy in the early 20th century. The announcement has been shared on social media by the developers, accompanied by a teaser celebrating the iconic “Gone Gold” text.

Mafia: The Old Country promises to be the reboot the saga needed

In this installment, we’ll return to the origins of the protagonist mafia family, with a more personal story centered on the early years of Ennio Caruso, the future Don Salieri’s father. This prequel bets on a darker and more traditional tone, leaving behind the big city to delve into the towns, fields, and smuggling routes of southern Europe.

The game will feature:

• A semi-open world set in 1919 Italy, recreated with great historical detail

• Third-person combat with improved cover and refined mechanics

• Branching narrative, with decisions that will affect Ennio’s rise in the organization

• Classic vehicles, alleyway shootouts, and infiltration missions

• Graphical department with dynamic lighting and the use of Hangar 13’s updated engine

Mafia: The Old Country will arrive on Xbox Series, PC, and PS5 on August 8, with no edition for the previous generation. The game will be completely dubbed in Spanish, as we informed you a few weeks ago.
