The closure of several internal studios by Microsoft has left its mark on gamers, and one of the most affected projects has been Perfect Dark, the highly anticipated reboot of the franchise developed by The Initiative. After years of silence and complex development, the game was finally canceled amidst the restructuring of Xbox Game Studios.
The news was a harsh blow to those who were eagerly awaiting the return of Joanna Dark in a new high-budget adventure, with Crystal Dynamics as a collaborating studio. However, despite the decision, some are not ready to let the game disappear without a fight.
Actress Alix Wilton Regan wants Perfect Dark to have another chance
British actress Alix Wilton Regan, chosen to play Joanna Dark, has shared her support on social media for those still fighting to save the project. Although her involvement in the development was limited, she acknowledges that many fans have reached out to her to ask her to speak out publicly.
In her message, she stated: “A lot of people have been reaching out and floating this idea on my timeline, my phone, and in my DMs, so I’m just gonna say it: I HOPE WE CAN LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE PERFECT DARK SURVIVES”, and added: “Speak up if you want to see Perfect Dark survive”.
The community’s reaction was swift, and users are already organizing movements on forums and social media to ask Microsoft to reconsider its decision or for another company to take over the project. Although the cancellation seems definitive, the desire to see the franchise return remains strong.
