According to this report, the next Xbox won’t be a traditional console, but a device deeply integrated with Windows 11, capable of running current Xbox games, retro-compatible titles, and PC software, including stores like Steam. The idea is to offer an experience designed for the living room, but with the flexibility of a full-fledged computer when the user desires it.

In terms of the calendar, the report cites recent statements by Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, who pointed out that the development of the new hardware is advancing with a view to a launch in 2027. However, Microsoft doesn’t want to commit to a specific date: the goal is to arrive when Windows 11 is polished enough to offer a solid and coherent experience in console format.
