Although there’s no official confirmation from Microsoft or Bethesda, the first hints that could anticipate the development of a possible sequel have started to emerge.

MachineGames is hiring a Senior Concept Artist for a new project, whose description draws attention for several reasons. The requested profile requires experience in both video games and the film industry, something that fits with the visual and thematic identity that has characterized Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle. Phil Spencer himself has already confirmed that he sees Indiana Jones as a possible sequel opportunity, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if this happened.

A new MachineGames project raises suspicions

The job offer specifically requests profiles with “experience in the video game and/or film industry” and familiarity with visual entertainment. Although the game’s title is not mentioned, the context suggests that MachineGames could be starting the conceptual phase of a sequel. Additionally, it’s rumored that the studio had recently canceled another internal project — possibly related to Wolfenstein — to focus its resources on the Indiana Jones saga.

Given that the position is senior and focused on early visual design, everything indicates that the game would still be in a very initial development phase. It wouldn’t be surprising if it took several years to get concrete news, but the signs point to a clear continuation after the success of the first game, which is currently available on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC, also included in Xbox Game Pass.

For now, there’s no official confirmation from Bethesda or Microsoft, but the door remains open. If the first game’s reception is repeated, the Indy saga still has a lot to explore in video games.
