Although it’s been many years since its release, the Xbox 360 is still alive and kicking in thousands of homes. Whether you use it to play classic games, retro-compatible titles, or simply as a secondary console, there’s an important detail to keep in mind before the year ends.

Microsoft has confirmed that December 31st is the last day you’ll be able to manually set the date and time on an Xbox 360. After that, consoles without synchronized time may display an incorrect date if they remain disconnected from the internet.

What you need to do with your Xbox 360 before the year ends

If you usually use your Xbox 360 offline most of the time, it’s highly recommended to connect it to the internet at least once before December 31st. By doing so, the console will automatically synchronize the date and time with the servers, ensuring it’s correctly set permanently.

• This step is especially important to avoid issues with saved games, achievements, timed matches, or errors when running certain games. Simply turn on the console, connect it to Xbox Live for a few minutes, and let the system synchronize automatically.

Once you’ve done this, you can go back to using your Xbox 360 without an internet connection, knowing that the internal clock will remain correctly configured even after the deadline.
