In the last few hours, two separate projects have appeared on the NexusMods portal, both focused on opening up the possibility of playing with a companion or even facing off against other players. Although they’re not part of the official Team Cherry game, they’re initiatives that aim to offer a new way to enjoy the highly anticipated Metroidvania.
Multplayer mods for Hollow Knight: Silksong
Currently, there are two options available:
Both allow joining shared matches where players can collaborate to overcome the game’s zones or, if they prefer, engage in PvP battles. According to the authors, the main difference is that SilklessCoop could be compatible with non-Steam versions, such as GOG or the Microsoft Store, while the other seems to focus solely on the Valve edition.
- However, the installation isn’t as straightforward as with other mods. To get it working, it’s necessary to set up a server and connect to it, which requires a few extra steps and some technical knowledge. Still, the community has already started sharing tutorials to facilitate the process.
Although it’s not an official addition, this mod reflects the players’ interest in experimenting with new gameplay forms. And the truth is that the idea of exploring the world of Hollow Knight: Silksong with a friend, or measuring strength in PvP combat, adds an extra layer of replayability to a title that’s already shaping up to be one of the most notable of 2025.
