Helldivers 2 will finally land its entire intergalactic military might on Xbox Series X/S very soon, ending the exclusivity the title had with Sony since its release. As expected, speculation about the game’s arrival on Microsoft’s subscription service didn’t take long, and it was the game’s developers themselves who responded to the possibility of the game joining the Xbox Game Pass catalog at launch.
The response came through the Discord channel of the production and dismisses the possibility of the game arriving on the service, at least not at launch, which leaves the door open to a possible inclusion in the future. It shouldn’t be surprising that the game won’t be available on the service from the start, considering that the one in charge of publishing the title is PlayStation Publishing LLC; in other words, Sony is ultimately in charge of bringing the game to Xbox as well, although it’s also true that a similar case occurred with MLB The Show, which did arrive on Game Pass, but given the popularity of one game and the other, the decision isn’t surprising.
Conquering the galaxy isn’t a solo mission
That being said, if you want to fight for the supremacy of Super Earth and bring democracy to every corner of the known galaxy, having an active subscription to Microsoft’s service won’t be enough. The good news is that, despite being a AAA title, it doesn’t cost like one; in fact, the price is 50% lower than many current triple-A developments, meaning you can get the game for $40. On the other hand, Sea of Thieves, originally an Xbox exclusive, never reached any of the PlayStation Plus levels, indicating a kind of symmetry despite this recent collaboration between the brands.
The game’s future also looks very promising, with new and relevant content planned by Arrowhead Game Studios.
