Over the past few months, rumors about the return of the original Halo trilogy have been gaining momentum, but now the scenario is starting to take shape. New information suggests that Halo Campaign Evolved would not be an isolated project, but rather the first step in a much more ambitious plan approved by Microsoft.
According to various sources close to development, the goal of Halo Studios would be to revive the most iconic campaigns in the saga, modernizing them technically and gameplay-wise for a new generation of players, coinciding with a key date for the franchise.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 would also have campaign-focused remakes
Rebs Gaming, backing up previous leaks from Halo Leaks, claims that Microsoft has already given the green light to develop remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3. Like Halo Campaign Evolved, these projects would focus exclusively on the campaign mode, leaving out competitive multiplayer. Both titles would also incorporate modern mechanics like sprinting, adapting the experience to current standards.
- Everything points to the fact that all three games would be rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, allowing for a deep visual improvement and facilitating their release on new platforms. In fact, Halo Campaign Evolved is expected to launch in 2025 on Xbox One, PC, and PS5, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the saga, a move that would fit with Xbox’s recent multi-platform strategy.
For now, there are no concrete release dates for the possible remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3, although there is speculation about staggered releases, separated by several years. It is also unclear if this plan would include other titles like Halo Reach or Halo 3: ODST, which have not been mentioned by the leakers so far. If confirmed, we would be looking at a complete reimagining of the classic trilogy, designed for both veterans and new players.
