The Halo universe is once again at the center of conversations after a supposed leak that claims Halo Studios is developing full remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3. The information comes from the leaks_infinite account on X, a known source within the saga’s community, which assures that both campaigns are being rebuilt from scratch in Unreal Engine 5 and will incorporate modern mechanics, including sprint, although without multiplayer mode.
According to the report, the competitive part of the saga would be transferred to a new project under the name of Halo 7, an independent title that would serve as the new multiplayer pillar of the franchise, with live support and seasonal updates.
The remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 would be campaign-only, with Halo 7 focused on PvP
The leaker claims that the remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3 will be focused exclusively on the single-player experience, replicating the strategy seen with Halo: Campaign Evolved, the remake of the first title officially confirmed by Microsoft this month.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 are being remade, yes, they will have sprint. They will not include multiplayer, only campaign. The multiplayer will be Halo 7.
If the rumor is true, this would mark a profound change in the structure of the saga, definitively separating the campaign and PvP into independent projects. The goal would be to offer more focused and technically ambitious experiences, with campaigns faithful to the original classics and modern multiplayer with prolonged support over time.
For now, neither Microsoft nor Halo Studios have confirmed the existence of these remakes, so the information should be taken with caution. However, the idea fits with the new direction of the franchise after the presentation of Halo: Campaign Evolved, whose version will arrive in 2026 on Xbox.
During its announcement, community director Brian Jarrard made it clear that “Halo will be on PlayStation from now on, starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved“, opening the door to future multi-platform releases like these supposed remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3.
Everything points to the fact that the future of the saga will be built on Unreal Engine 5 and with a more open and multi-platform model than ever. For now, fans will have to wait for Halo Studios or Microsoft to officially confirm whether the return of the original trilogy is really on the way.
