In recent weeks and months, everything related to artificial intelligence in video games has gained momentum, especially after the movements of major tech companies and their impact on key industry players. In this context, GTA 6 has not been left behind and many players wondered if Rockstar had resorted to generative AI to shape its highly anticipated open world.
The official answer has arrived and is clear-cut. From Take-Two Interactive, they have wanted to make it clear that Rockstar’s next big release does not use generative artificial intelligence in its development, dispelling any doubts about the origin of its content and creative approach.
GTA 6 is built by hand, without automatic generation
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, has explained that every element of GTA 6 has been manually created by Rockstar Games’ teams, without resorting to procedural generation or AI tools to design scenarios, characters, or situations. According to his words, this artisanal work remains one of the studio’s hallmarks and one of the reasons why their worlds are so believable and detailed.
Zelnick does acknowledge that Take-Two has been using machine learning systems and artificial intelligence for years in various internal areas, mainly to optimize processes, reduce times, and improve workflows, but emphasizes that this does not mean delegating creativity to algorithms. In the specific case of GTA 6, he insists that neighborhoods, streets, and buildings have been built one by one, from scratch, keeping total control in the hands of the developers.
The message is clear: GTA 6 does not bet on automatically generated content, and Rockstar continues to trust human talent as the central pillar of its production. For those who feared a shift towards AI-created worlds, the company has been blunt: the future of the game passes through the same meticulous approach that has defined the saga for decades.
