The release of GTA 6 is still shrouded in mystery, and one of the most debated topics is its price. With increasingly high budgets and unprecedented expectations, many gamers are wondering if GTA 6 will break the current price barrier or if Rockstar Games will opt for a more conservative strategy.
The conversation has been reignited after a roundtable discussion published by GamesIndustry.biz, where several analysts and former industry developers share their opinions on the possible price of the highly anticipated title. Among them, a former Rockstar member makes it clear that, although GTA 6 could be the only game capable of selling for $100, it wouldn’t necessarily be the smartest decision.
Standard price, Deluxe edition, or hybrid model
According to these reflections, setting the base price at $100 could generate backlash from part of the community, even for a franchise with virtually guaranteed sales. The most sensible idea from a commercial standpoint would be to maintain a price similar to that of current major releases, betting on the enormous volume of copies sold.
However, an alternative is also being considered: a Deluxe or Premium edition, with additional content or access to online mode, which could be priced higher. This way, Rockstar could maximize revenue without increasing the base product price, which will be the most in-demand at launch.
For now, the company has not given any official hints about the final price, but everything suggests that Rockstar will play it safe, combining a standard price with higher-end editions for more committed players. The debate will remain open until the official announcement is made.
