It’s been over 20 years since that dark-hued open-world RPG became a phenomenon among the most demanding role-playing game fans. Now, Gothic Remake is getting closer to becoming a reality, and we finally know when we’ll be able to return to the legendary Valley of Mines.
During the THQ Nordic Showcase event held on August 1, 2025, the publisher officially confirmed that Gothic Remake will arrive in early 2026, although the exact date has not been announced yet. The playable demo released on Steam a few months ago was a first step to test the project’s visual and gameplay approach, but now it’s reinforced with a more defined roadmap.
Gothic Remake Aims for Q1 2026
The company hasn’t provided an exact day yet, but setting the release for early 2026 is a clear indication that development has entered its final phase. It’s expected that the remake will keep the original game’s spirit intact, with technical improvements, new animations, and more reactive AI to the player’s decisions.
- In its return, Gothic Remake will allow players to immerse themselves in a deep and living open world, where every choice alters the story and character behavior. The dark atmosphere and freedom of exploration will once again be its hallmarks, all with modernized graphics for the current generation of consoles and PC.
Here at Generación Xbox, we’ll be keeping an eye out for any news that confirms the exact platforms and release date. What’s clear is that the wait is almost over.
