Resident Evil Requiem is currently at the center of the gaming community’s attention, especially after the latest demos featuring Leon and Claire. However, as Capcom moves forward with its new mainline entry, interesting signals are emerging about the franchise’s future beyond the numbered chapters.
In this context, Koshi Nakanishi, director of Resident Evil Requiem, has hinted that the possibility of reviving the Resident Evil Revelations series is on the table. While it’s not an official announcement, it’s a clear expression of interest that rekindles a beloved saga among fans.
Resident Evil Revelations could return with a modern twist
In a recent interview, Nakanishi explained that he’s drawn to the idea of developing a new Revelations game focused on secondary characters who don’t fit into the mainline entries. The goal would be to explore parallel stories within the Resident Evil universe and fill in temporal gaps between the numbered titles, something that already defined the first two games.
- The director acknowledges that he’s been reflecting on the current state of the series and that a project like this would allow him to experiment with different protagonists and situations without the constraints of a major mainline release. However, it would depend on the right context within Capcom.
It’s worth remembering that Resident Evil Revelations 2 was released in 2015, and since then, the series has been silent. In the past, rumors circulated about a third installment (codenamed Outrage) that was allegedly in development for the Nintendo Switch, but that project was reportedly canceled in 2021.
For now, Capcom hasn’t confirmed anything, but Nakanishi’s words make it clear that Revelations is not forgotten, and its return is a viable option if the company decides to expand the Resident Evil universe beyond Requiem.
